Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

What is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition where a person has obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours.

OCD can affect men, women and children. People can start having symptoms from as early as 6 years old, but it often begins around puberty and early adulthood. It can be distressing and significantly interfere with your life, but treatment can help you keep it under control.

You can find out more about OCD, and get advice and support, from the NHS and South East London Mind.

Emir understands this first hand – just a few months ago, he had found himself on the streets, his physical health failing alongside his spirit. Medication, once a routine, was a forgotten memory. He felt adrift with no anchor in sight.
