Psychological interventions

What are psychological interventions?

These are approaches that can improve mental health by helping people to make changes to their thinking, behaviour and relationships. These interventions may help to reduce distress, manage emotions and improve well being.

What interventions are available?

Group interventions are offered to help people understand their emotions and to try out new ways of coping.

Groups programmes usually involve:

  • Managing emotions
  • Trauma stabilisation
  • Understanding personality disorder

Groups run face-to-face and online, there is no requirement to share information unless participants wish to.

"I find these groups have been brilliant, I can feel myself getting better weekly."

There are some sessions where a friend or family member may also attend to offer support. Following group interventions other forms of help may be recommended for you.

Feedback

"Since coming here I'm learning more about how to cope with my feelings."

"This week was very helpful and will definitely recommend to others."

"I found the session informative, with useful tips that I can utilise."

"Yes. Being part of a group helped me feel less alone and isolated because I can see others share similar experiences, thoughts and feelings."
